Welcome to the Pals October 2017 Blog Hop featuring some very “Wicked Folds”.

Thank you so much for joining us today. Sit back and enjoy the view while the Stampin’ Pretty Pals treat you with their wickedly folded projects. Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

I am sharing a lot of photos to ensure I cover all aspects of my Halloween Easel Card Party Invitation. I have never been a big one to endure creating a card using a bunch of crazy or in this case “wicked folds”.  I love the results and I think they are amazing, it’s just not my creative outlet.  When I looked at the “Wicked Folds” theme for the October 2017 Pals Blog Hop, I had no idea where to start.  I went to Pinterest and scanned the results of a “card folds” search only to come up with a bunch of samples I had no interest in pursuing.

So, I decided to create one from scratch and something I could make on the fly.  I wanted to keep it simple so I envisioned something like an easel but with a “window” you could see through.  I grabbed a 12×12 Widow Sheet and cut a piece to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, a standard sized A2 card front.

I then had to imagine how I could make it stand like an easel, so I grabbed a piece of 12×12 Black Cardstock and cut it down to 4 1/4 in x 12 in so it was the same width as the Window Sheet piece I had already cut.  I needed to attach the Window Sheet to something so I scored the Basic Black Cardstock at 1/2 inch and folded it over so that I could adhere the Window Sheet to the back side. (I used Fast Fuse).

I needed to make the back side of the easel the same height as the Window Sheet so I scored again at 6 inches. I then cut a piece of Spooky Night DSP to 4 1/4 in x 5 1/2 inch and adhered it with Fast Fuse to the inside of the Black Cardstock, so you are viewing it when you look through the Window Sheet. I decorated the top of the piece of DSP with images from the Spooky Cat Stamp Set, using the Cat Punch to quickly crop out the cat and my Paper Snips to fussy cut the remaining images.  The Tree and Moon Image that the Owl is sitting on, along with the Witch Hat on the Cat, are both snipped from a piece of the Spooky Night DSP.  All Images were adhered with Regular and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now I needed to create the Bottom to hold up my Easel Top.  So I scored and folded three more times at 8 3/4 in (fold in), 9 1/4 in (fold in) and 9 3/4 in (fold out). I just happened to get lucky and it worked out perfectly.  It made a place holder for my Easel and a spot that I could add my invitation details. Note:  The Invitation Details were stamped with a retired Photopolymer Set called Invitation Details.  You can easily print this or handwrite it out if you do not have this set available to you.

The “You’re Invited” Image is from the Graveyard Gate Stamp Set and was stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock with Basic Black Archival Ink.  I snipped it out with the Paper Snips and adhered the ends to the top flap of the easel. Note: If you are going to put the invitation in the mail (mine will be handed off in person), you can move the You’re Invited image down so that it would fit in a Medium Envelope.

The Season to Sparkle Photopolymer Bundle (made up of the Season to Sparkle Stamp Set and Chandelier Thinlits Dies) was used to decorate the Window Sheet. The Chandelier was created by zipping the Chandelier Die through the Big Shot along with Shimmery White Cardstock.  I then colored it with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. The Hanging Spiders, Candles and Crows were all stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock with Basic Black Archival Ink and zipped with the Big Shot with the coordinating dies to quickly crop them out. I adhered them to the Window Sheet with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

I used the yellow paper clip from the Eclectic Shaped Paper Clips pack to hold the invite together (seen in the first and second photos) and show off the “Open If You DARE” sentiment from the Graveyard Gate Stamp Set. I used the Every Day Label Punch to crop out a piece of Spooky Night DSP and mount it behind the sentiment. The Crow on top was the final touch to the front of the invitation.
