Brushos! Amazing Crystals of Color!

Beautiful Day Stamp Set from 2018 Occasions Catalog using Brusho Color Crystals for Stampin' Sunday Blog Hop by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! #BRUSHO #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

Today I have the great honor of hopping with the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop Design Team as the Guest Designer.  When Sara approached me about hopping with them, as soon as I heard that the theme was Brusho, I was in!  I have been wanting to play with the wonderful Colour Crystals a bit more and this was my chance!  I hope you like what I have created for you, although Brusho is said to be a bit messy, I haven’t had an issue and have enjoyed creating with it.

Card Details:

  • Card Base:  Pacific Point Cardstock Cut to 4 1/4 x 11 in. Scored/Folded at 5 1/2 inches for a standard sized card that fits perfectly in our Medium Sized Envelopes.
  • 2nd Layer: Basic Black Cardstock cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 in.  Adhered with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • 3rd Layer: Shimmery White Cardstock cut to 4 x 5 1/4 in.  Sprinkled with Prussian Blue Brusho Colour Crystals.  I then applied small amounts of water using my Stampin’ Spritzer.  After the Brusho Crystals started to melt, I left alone to dry.
  • Butterfly Image: From the Beautiful Day Stamp Set.  Stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink on Shimmery White Cardstock, then fussy cut / snipped out with my Paper Snips. I then took my Aqua Painter and added water to the areas I wanted to color with the Prussian Blue Brusho.  The Brusho ONLY adheres to the area that is wet.  I spread it evenly with my Aqua Painter, then let it dry.  I did the same to the four smaller areas, only this time I used the Moss Green Brusho Colour Crystals. It adhered to the 3rd Layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Sentiments: Also from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set.  I stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock with Basic Black Archival Ink, then fussy cut / snipped out with my Paper Snips.  I wrapped some Black Metallic Thread around three fingers, carefully pulled it off and adhered to the Happy Birthday sentiment. Both adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, cut to size needed.
  • Embellishments: Five Multi-Sized Dots from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes were strategically added to the top and bottom of the 3rd Layer for a final touch!
  • Tools & Adhesive:  Blender Pens, Stampin’ Spritzer, Stampin’ Trimmer, Paper Snips, Clear Stamp Blocks E & H, Stampin’ Dimensionals

There are so many different ways to use Brusho.  I am highlighting 3 ways in this post, but I will be experimenting with it and will share with you my findings.  You can also watch the video by Stampin’ Up! to see their recommendations and watch it in action.

The Beautiful Day Stamp Set is PERFECT for using with Brusho Colour Crystals.

I wanted to create a Valentines Themed Gift Bag to go with the card I shared in a previous post (shown below).  I started with a piece of Watercolor Paper.  I added a layer of water with my Aqua Painter, then added the Brilliant Red Brusho.  I didn’t want the “crystals” look on this one so I immediately blended the Brusho Crystals with my Aqua Painter and set it aside to dry.

I wanted to add the water droplet look, so after drying, I took my Aqua Painter and squeezed it so that drops of water fell sporadically on the watercolor paper.  I let it sit for about a minute then took a piece of paper towel to soak up the droplets.  I am so happy with the results.

Not sure about Brusho but love the watercolored background look?  I use Watercolor in 75% of my creations, it just adds so much to the card and is so easy to do.  I have shared a step-by-step tutorial on ink smooching and watercolor background, you can download it now by CLICKING HERE.

Feel free to click on the image above and it will take you to the details of my first creation with Brusho, but be sure to come back to hop along with the rest of the Stamping Sunday Team!

The Sure Do Love You Bundle is one of my favorite Valentines Themed Bundles from Stampin’ Up! The coordinating Heart Happiness Stamp Set is a huge bonus and brings more bang for your buck!

I used the Hearts Framelits Dies from the Lots to Love Box Framelits to cut out the hearts to place on my Delicate White Doily.  The Fine-Tip Glue Pen was used to add drops of glue to the hearts to adhere the Gold Glitter Flakes that I sprinkled on the top of the glue.

The photo to the left shows the watercolor paper after applying Brilliant Red Brusho, blending with an Aqua Painter, letting it dry, then adding water droplets and soaking them back up with a paper towel. Then I zipped it through my Big Shot with the heart framelits.

A few loops of Gold Metallic Thread were added behind the group of hearts prior to adhering. I love that little pop that the metallic thread adds to my creations!
