TGIF! It’s time for an inspiration challenge!
Today, the TGIF Challenges Design Team is showcasing projects inspired by the challenge below.
As I was prepping for this challenge, I was astonished to find that I do not have a stamp set with a PUMPKIN in it!!! What?? So I had to get my creative brain in overdrive and figure out how I could create one with what I had on hand. The pumpkin was simply created by stamping the largest oval 5 times, easy peasy. The Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set has so many possibilities. If it’s not currently in your stash, I highly recommend it.
My card has lots of texture and distressing, but that’s what makes me love it so much! I ran every piece, except my card base, through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine tucked inside the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.
Begin with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of Soft Suede Cardstock. Score and fold at 5 1/2.
NOTE: ALL remaining pieces of cardstock are run through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine tucked inside the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder prior to adhering to the card but after the stamping and die-cutting is complete.
NOTE: The edges of most pieces have been distressed with a bone folder or scissor edge and sponged with Soft Suede Ink.
Adhere the 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Zip a piece of Kraft Paper (or Soft Suede Cardstock) through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine along with the Beautiful Leaves Die. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use the largest oval from the Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set to create the pumpkin, here’s how:
- Using Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink, stamp the first oval onto a piece of Basic White Cardstock, this will be your center.
- Mask that stamped image (cover with a post-it note that has been stamped and cut to size).
- Stamp again on the left and on the right, moving a little higher than the center, but not the full width of the oval.
- Do this one more time on both sides, moving your mask to cover the last image you just stamped.
- Once you have stamped it five times, you should see the pumpkin. Cut it out closely with Paper Snips.
Zip a piece of Old Olive Cardstock through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine along with the three small Beautiful Leaves Dies.
Adhere the leaves to the front and back of the pumpkin with Mini Glue Dots. Adhere the pumpkin to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp the sentiment in Soft Suede Classic Ink onto a 2 3/4 x 1/2 piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Pull apart a piece of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine into individual threads. Loosely tie those pieces into a bow and adhere as shown with a Mini Glue Dot.
Embellish with Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots.
This card would look fabulous without adding the texture and distressing the edges. I urge you to give it a try with and without to see which card you like better. I like how texture and distressing help hide tiny flaws that you may otherwise see if you leave it clean.
