Did you know that July is Watercolor Month! YES, YES, YES! I can’t wait to play with all my NEW Holiday Catalog goodies that have been sitting and taunting me since they arrived, some almost a month ago! Guess I didn’t need expedited shipping…Best Laid Plans!
So, today, my busiest day so far, I decided to quickly watercolor a few images from the Kindest Gnome Bundle….MY FAVORITE…which happens to be part of the Storybook Gnomes Suite Collection (YES, an entire SUITE dedicated to GNOMES…I’m in heaven)!
I cannot wait for more time to play with this Suite Collection. The Dies are to-die-for (see what I did there?) I know, I know! I’m such a dork, LOL!
Like I said, I had very little time to create this card…like 30 minutes kind of time. So there are a few spots that make me want to start again, but then I’m not perfect and it is good to show those imperfections every now and then.
- I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base of Crumb Cake Cardstock.
- A 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was adhered to a 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 piece of Soft Suede Cardstock.
- I stamped the images in Jet Black Stazon Ink onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper
- I colored them with Water Painters and the following Classic Inks: Real Red, Poppy Parade, Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Balmy Blue, and Petal Pink.
- I cropped the images with the coordinating Gnome Dies.
- The toadstool is adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the gnomes are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The sentiment is stamped in Jet Black Stazon Ink.
Whoops, I overwatered the worn out path from the toadstool, but I guess that just makes it look a little more worn? Good mistake.
I love using Soft Suede when I watercolor, it gives so much depth when you apply multiple layers onto dried ink.
Do you love gnomes as much as I do? I wish I had more time to sit down and play with this amazing Suite.
