The Heartland Stamp Set in a Faux Wood Frame
Those of you that follow my blog know that I love to make watercolor creations; today is no different! As soon as I saw the Heartland Stamp Set I knew I needed to get it. Farm life is how I grew up and a memory I hold close to my heart. So anything that comes around to help me re-live that memory, I grab a hold of it!
This card is very similar to one that I have created in the past (before I started blogging) but all the products I had used on that card were retired and not available for purchase. I am so excited that Stampin’ Up! has created a similar set that I can now sell to my customers! The Faux Wood Frame is so easy to create with the All New Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, it is the perfect compliment to this stamp set!
There are so many different color options to create an array of Faux Wood Frames with the All New Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. I have probably used this DSP the most out of any of the new ones in the Stampin’ Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. I am sure you will see a lot more of it in my creations to come.
Here is a close-up of the Faux Wood Frame below. It was easy to make. Just cut the strips to the width and length you need and then glue them together at the corners, making sure to glue the same strip on top. I even started with mitered corners but decided for the more rustic look of overlapping.
Picture Details
- Base of the card is a piece of Wood Textures 6×6 DSP.
- Watercolor Paper is cut to 5×5. The barn images and tractor were stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink. It was adhered to the base with Foam Adhesive Strips cut to size.
- The ink colors of Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand were all added with an Aqua Painter to create the rustic scene.
- The Frame is Wood Texture DSP cut to 1 in x 5.5 in strips. They were adhered in the corners with Snail Adhesive and a dot was added with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to resemble a rustic nail.

I stamped the barn and tractor on a 5×5 watercolor paper as instructed but by the time you put the 1×5.5 border pieces on so much of the barn and tractor are covered. Without the border it works perfectly but I love the wood faux border. What am I doing wrong?
I no longer have this so i can’t check my measurements, but you are welcome to send me a photo of your project so that I can help you.
