Pals Blog Hop July 2019 Stesha Bloodhart. Stampin' Hoot! #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

Welcome to the Pals’ July  Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects that are “Mixing It Up” –  adding texture that will really take your projects up a notch – or two! You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

We'll Walrus be Friends Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Card by 2019 Artisan Stesha Bloodhart Stampin' Hoot!

As I stumbled upon the We’ll Walrus Be Friends Stamp Set in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, I just knew I had to have it!  The adorable images and pun-worthy phrases brought an instant smile to my face and a laugh out loud chuckle. I hope that my creation does the same to you.  My “Mixing It Up” comes from the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder, which was stepped-up with some Classic Ink and an Aqua Painter.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.

Zip a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of Vellum Cardstock through a die-cutting machine tucked inside the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder.   Adhere to the card base with Snail Adhesive added to the center (to keep it hidden).

Zip a 4 x 4 3/4 piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper through a die-cutting machine tucked inside the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder.  Adhere to a 4 1/8 x 4 7/8 piece of Basic Black Cardstock with Snail Adhesive. Use an Aqua Painter, Seaside Spray & Pacific Point Classic Inks to add color to the watercolor paper.  After the color has dried completely, flick droplets of water from an Aqua Painter onto the watercolor paper.  Wait 30 seconds, then soak up the droplets with a paper towel.

Use the largest Stitched Nested Label Die to crop a piece of Vellum Cardstock.  Fold in half, wrap with White Solid Baker’s Twine and adhere to the top of the watercolor paper (Snail Adhesive on the backside, Stampin’ Dimensionals on the frontside, placed strategically to hide behind the walruses.   Secure the baker’s twine with a bow.  Adhere to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Use the Stamparatus to stamp the walruses and fish in Jet Black Stazōn Ink onto Shimmery White Cardstock.  Color with an Aqua Painter and the following Classic Inks:  Seaside Spray & Pacific Point (ice/water), Soft Suede (walruses), Mango Melody (fish), & Smoky Slate (seagull). Snip with Paper Snips and adhere as shown…Stampin’ Dimensionals for the Walruses and Mini Glue Dots for the fish.

Stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock that has been rubbed with an Embossing Buddy. Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, flick to remove the excess and set with a Heat Tool. Snip to size and separate.  Adhere as shown with Snail Adhesive.

I absolutely love how the color in the waves turned out.  Don’t be afraid to mix color on the canvas and also add drops of water to lighten it up or create a cool effect.  If I were to create this card again, I think I would stamp the fish directly on the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.  This is a new item to Stampin’ Up! and I have to say it is a dream to work with.  It doesn’t warp, it cuts like butter, and it grabs color like a sponge.  I am so happy that I ordered it!

I love the subtleness of the Vellum Cardstock.  Even though you can see much of it on the card base (it’s peeking out the edges, embossed with waves) or the Stitched Nested Label at the top (a placeholder for the gang of walruses) it adds just the right touch to my project.
