TGIF! It’s time for a sketch challenge!
Today, the TGIF Challenges Design Team is showcasing projects inspired by the sketch below. I love to watercolor birds and knew that I just had to have the Happy Holly-Days Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! 2021 July – December Mini Catalog. In my mind I could see it on a Crumb Cake card base, so I started with that and worked my way into a beautiful Happy Christmas Card.

HAPPY HOLLY-DAYS STAMP SET
Holly takes center stage in the holiday-themed Happy Holly-Days Stamp Set. Combine the bird and holly images with conventional Christmastime greetings to create cards and other projects. With this variety of greetings, you can customize your Christmas cards for everyone on your list. And when the holidays are done, you can use the bird on springtime or Easter creations.
HOLLY BORDER PUNCH
Build a beautiful festive border with the Holly Border Punch. Create an elegant holly border along the side of a card or scrapbook page. Punch an envelope to create a charming peek-a-boo element for your Christmas cards. So many possibilities with one punch!
Use a Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer to cut a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11. Score and fold at 5 1/2.
Zip a 4 x 4 1/2 piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine tucked inside the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
Distress the edges with a Bone Folder.
Pull a 12″ piece of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine into two pieces. Double wrap around the Cherry Cobbler, securing with a bow. Adhere to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Crop a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the 3″ (largest) Layering Circles Die and a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Cut off 1/8″ and distress the edges with a Bone Folder. Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp the bird and holly (qty 4) in Jet Black Stazon Ink onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Use a Water Painter to add the following colors: Mossy Meadow & Cherry Cobbler (holly), Soft Suede (bird). Fussy cut with Paper Snips. Adhere as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Crop a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Holly Border Punch. Adhere a Mini Glue Dot and tuck under the watercolor holly.
Stamp the sentiment in Versamark In onto a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock. Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Set with a Heat Tool. Trim to size with a Paper Trimmer. Adhere with Stampin Dimensionals.
Embellish with Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots.
I love Baker’s Twine, but I love Linen Thread even more…so I tend to pull apart the Baker’s Twine to get the look of Linen Thread in the color I am after. You can also color the Linen Thread with Stampin’ Blends if you do not want to mess with making the Baker’s Twine thinner.

Stesha, I love your cards! This one is beautiful. Would you please describe how to “distress the edges with a Bone Folder?” I don’t know the process. Maybe it’s one of those things that’s best to see in a video, but I would appreciate a description, if you would! Thanks!

Maybe I would be able to do a video in the near future but for now, what I do is lay the cardstock on the edge of a hard surface (my counter) and rub the edge of it with a bone folder.
Peggy Noe did do a video on two ways to distress the edges of cardstock, I haven’t watched it but I bet it is what you are looking for.
