It’s Monday and time for another Global Design Project Challenge!
#GDP309 is a Color Challenge that is SO EASY to play along with! Basic Black, Basic White, and YOUR CHOICE of ANY COLOR!
I love black and white as it is fabulous in plaid, but black and white with a pop of Real Red…MY FAVORITE!
My husband celebrated his 48th birthday on September 9 and this is the card that I created for him. He loved it, which means a lot as he is my critic. He will offer tips and tricks on how he thinks I can improve on my next creation…and this one, he said he loved. 🙂 Maybe it was the bright red heart that did the trick?
Slimline Card:
Begin with a 8″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic White Cardstock. Score and fold at 4″.
Use a Paper Trimmer to cut a piece of Pattern Party Designer Series Paper to 8 1/2 x 3 1/2. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp the Peaceful Cabin Images (Trees x 3, Cabin x 1, Fence x 2) in Versamark Ink onto Basic White Cardstock. Cover with Black Basics Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Tap to remove the excess and set with a Heat Tool.
Crop all with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and the coordinating Cabin Dies. Trim the excess cardstock and separate the trees with Paper Snips. Create and adhere the scene as shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp the Birthday Wishes sentiment (Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set) in Versamark Ink as shown. Cover with Black Basics Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Tap to remove the excess and set with a Heat Tool.
Adhere to the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal.
Crop a piece of Real Red Cardstock with a Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and the heart die from Warm Wraps Dies.
Adhere as shown with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
Slimline Envelope:
Begin by cutting a piece of Basic White 12 x 12 Cardstock to 9 1/8 x 11.
Score the 9 1/8″ side at 2″ and 6 1/8″.
Score the 11″ side at 1 1/4″ and 10″.
Remove the four corners with Paper Snips by following the score lines.
Assemble and adhere at overlays.
Stamp the cabin in Versamark Ink onto a 7 1/2 x 3 piece of Basic White Cardstock. Cover with Black Basics Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Tap to remove the excess and set with a Heat Tool.
Adhere to a 8 x 3 1/2 piece of Pattern Party Designer Series Paper and to the envelope with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal.
I wasn’t entirely sure how a DistINKtive Stamp Set would heat emboss, but this one turned out wonderfully. It really helped with the rustic feel of the card, but gave it an amazing “touch” of texture. All images, including the sentiment and the envelope, were stamped in Versamark Ink and embossed in Black Basics Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
Creating your own SLIMLINE envelope is pretty easy. I make them for all my slimline cards, but you can also use a Business #10 envelope if you want. I used a piece of Basic White 12×12 Cardstock. It’s not too thick and works well for my black and white theme.
The template to create your own envelope to tuck your slimline card inside is shown above. You can click on the image to download the PDF to print and keep it as a reference.

Love your design. Stunning! I, too, love black and white. And the spot of red is essential on most every piece of art. ❣️
This card is beautiful. I love using black and white with a pop of color. It’s great for any season. Thank you.
