A Christmas Card for GDP114 Sketch Challenge

Global Design Project Sketch Challenge 114 #GDP114

Welcome, Welcome!  This week is a VERY BUSY WEEK!  I will have two to three posts almost every day so be ready for lots of inspiration and Holiday Extravaganza Deals!

Global Design Project brings a Sketch Challenge #114!  I hadn’t dug into my Year of Cheer Suite of products from the 2017 Holiday Catalog as much as I would have liked (outside of the snowflakes), so after receiving the Year of Cheer Embellishments from my upline, I decided to use those products for my card.  It is SO HARD to get a good photograph of metallics, I think I must have taken 3 dozen + photos with different lighting, backgrounds etc. I picked the ones I felt showed off the shimmer of the silver the best.  This card reminded me of a White Christmas!

Year of Cheer Suite of Products by Stampin' Up! for GDP114. Global Design Project Sketch Challenge. #GDP114 #stampinhoot #steshabloodhart #yearofcheer

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 11 in and scored/folded at 5 1/2 in.
  • 2nd Layer is Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper cut 1/8 smaller at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  I adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Silver 3/8 in Metallic Edge Ribbon was wrapped once around the DSP and adhered to the back with Fast Fuse.
  • Silver 1/8 in Ribbon was wrapped around the card and secured with a bow.
  • I cut a piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock to 2 1/4 x 6 1/4 in. I then cut six pieces of Silver Foil to 1 in squares with my Stampin’ Trimmer.  I added a strip of Fast Fuse to the back to hold my White Solid Bakers Twine in place while I added the Year of Cheer Charms and tied a bow to secure it.  I then added Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered them, evenly spaced, to the Whisper White Cardstock Strip.
  • I stamped the Merry Christmas Sentiment (from the Half Full Stamp Set) in Versamark onto Whisper White Cardstock. I covered it in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it with my Heat Tool. Then I fussy cut it with Paper Snips and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to all 6 squares and the center of the bursts on the DSP.

A Christmas Wreath for GDP113 Color Challenge

Watercolor Christmas Stamp Set and Leaf Punch by Stampin' Up! Create a Beautiful Christmas Wreath Card for GDP113 Color Challenge. Created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! #GDP113 #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

Welcome to a Color Challenge with the Global Design Project!  I just love these colors of Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz for Christmas!  So I decided to grab the Leaf Punch and use it to create a Christmas Wreath as I have seen others do.  I love the results and I hope you do too!

Cherry Cobbler is my favorite red.  So rich in color and it tends to coordinate well with so many others. I was leery about what I was going to do with the Pool Party, but it does work well with these colors. I decided to keep it subtle and make the Pear Pizzazz my main focus.

Watercolor Christmas Stamp Set and Leaf Punch by Stampin' Up! Create a Beautiful Christmas Wreath Card for GDP113 Color Challenge. Created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! #GDP113 #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

The first thing I did when presented with this color combination was grab my Designer Series Paper binder and made a search for a piece that had a color within this combination.  When I found the piece of Pear Pizzazz from the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP Pack, I knew that is what I wanted to use for the start of my design.

Watercolor Christmas Stamp Set and Leaf Punch by Stampin' Up! Create a Beautiful Christmas Wreath Card for GDP113 Color Challenge. Created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! #GDP113 #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

The leaves reminded me of the Leaf Punch and I have been wanting to try the wreath that my upline, Mary Fish, first presented about a month ago.  I love the Watercolor Christmas Stamp Set from the 2017 Holiday Catalog and wanted to incorporate it into my design as well. The sentiment ‘Merriest Christmas Wishes’ called-to me and I envisioned it within the center of my wreath. In order to make a wreath big enough to encase the sentiment, I decided to go with a 6 in x 6 in square card.

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Whisper White 12 x 12 Cardstock cut to 6 in x 12 in and scored/folded at 6 in.
  • 2nd Layer is the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP cut to 5 3/4 in x 5 3/4 in, adhered with Fast Fuse.
  • 3rd Layer is Cherry Cobbler Cardstock cut to 5 1/4 in x 5 1/4 in, adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • 4th Layer is Pool Party Cardstock cut to 5 in x 5 in, adhered with Fast Fuse.
  • 5th Layer is Whisper White Cardstock cut to 4 7/8 in x 4 7/8 in, adhered with Fast Fuse.
  • I stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Christmas in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink in the middle of the Whisper White Square.
  • I stamped 24 Leaf images from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set in Pear Pizzazz on Whisper White and quickly cropped them with the coordinating leaf punch. I then adhered the top leaf to another leaf, lining it up at the intersection of the three leaves and securing it with a Mini Glue Dot.  After gluing them all together, I then shaped it into a circle and secured it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I grabbed the Pool Party 3/8 in. Shimmer Ribbon, created a bow and adhered it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • I added Enamel Shapes in Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party as a final touch!

Painted Harvest Thankful Card for GDP112

Painted Harvest Bundle by Stampin' Up! for a Thankful Card by Stesha Bloodhart for GDP112 #stampinhoot #steshabloodhart #GDP112

Welcome to another week with the Global Design Project.  This week is CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) THE DESIGNER and it happens to be the extremely talented Connie Collins!  We were given the beautiful Fall pumpkin card shown below to CASE and I was more than happy to oblige.  I had already stamped and cut the sunflowers for another project I was unable to complete so I decided to use them for mine.

GDP112 Case the Designer Connie Collins #GDP112

Every time I look at Connie’s card I see more detail than I had before.  I just now noticed the Perfect White Accents that she has removed the backing on to add an array of clear enamel circles. Love it, never thought of that!

Painted Harvest Bundle by Stampin' Up! for a Thankful Card by Stesha Bloodhart for GDP112 #stampinhoot #steshabloodhart #GDP112

Here are the details of my card:

  • The stamp set I used is Painted Harvest, which is part of a bundle that includes the wonderful Leaf Punch. Be sure to purchase the bundle to save yourself 10%.
  • The Card Base is Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock.  I cut it to a standard size of 4 1/4 in x 11 in and scored/folded at 5.5 in.
  • The 2nd Layer is Early Espresso Cardstock cut 1/4 in smaller than the Card Base at 4 in x 5 1/4 in. It adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The 3rd Layer is Very Vanilla Cardstock cut 1/8 in smaller than the 2nd Layer at 3 7/8 in x 5 1/8 in. It adhered to the 2nd Layer with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • The Sunflowers were stamped on Very Vanilla Cardstock with the following Classic Ink Colors:  Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso.  Each Sunflower was fussy cut with Paper Snips, placed strategically on the 3rd Layer.  As it found its place on the edges, I snipped off the overlap and found a new home for the snipped pieces to fill in the 3rd Layer with Sunflowers. I then stamped the leaves and ferns with Early Espresso.  I quickly cropped the leaves out with the coordinating punch and fussy cut the ferns. I found their home and adhered them with Fast Fuse.
  • I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso on a strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock cut to 1 in x 3 1/4 in.  The end was quickly flagged with the Banner Triple Punch. I then cut a piece of Early Espresso Cardstock to 1 1/8 in x 3 1/2 in and snipped the end to complement the top layer.
  • I took the 1/4 in copper trim, pulled it apart to create a piece of mesh and layered it underneath the sentiment prior to adhering it to Top Layer.  I added several loops of Linen Thread to the end, securing it with a bow.

The Perfect Pumpkin Scrapbook Layout for GDP111 Theme: Family Time

Global Design Project 111 Challenge - Theme: Family Time #GDP111I love creating scrapbook pages and try to make a weekly Scrapbook Sunday post but haven’t had time to fit it into my schedule.  So when I saw this week’s theme of Family Time for Global Design Project 111, I knew I had to create a layout using that super cute Pick-A-Pumpkin Bundle. I usually spend an immense amount of time on my layouts, this one took me about 2 hours.  I may go back and add a few more details here and there, but I think it looks clean and simple.

We had so much fun visiting the corn maze that featured the Minnesota Wild.  We are huge hockey fans and were so excited to find a Fall Festival that had oodles of activities for the kiddos and a theme close to our hearts.  I have lots of pictures to feature on scrapbook layouts and I am happy that I got started on them…

I use the Letters for You Stamp Set and Large Letters Framelits Dies on almost all of my scrapbook pages.  It is a must-have for anyone who scrapbooks and it’s all the craze for the current Eclipse cards that have taken the Stampin’ Up! community by storm.  You can see my Eclipse Card here: 2nd Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop

Cheery Chirps for Global Design Project 110 Sketch

Cheery Chirps Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! in the 2017 Holiday Catalog used for Global Design Project 110 Sketch Challenge #GDP110 #steshabloodhart #stampinhootGlobal Design Project 110 Sketch Challenge

Welcome to my very first post as part of the Design Team for the Global Design Project Challenge Blog! I was so excited (and honored) when I received a phone call asking me if I would like to become part of the Team!  The Design Team is second to none and I can’t believe I am now a part of it!  YAY! Happy Dance 🙂

This week the challenge is a sketch.  I love sketches as they make it so much easier to design a card when you have something to create from, a starting point.

The Cheery Chirps Stamp Set from the 2017 Holiday Catalog was on my wish list from day one.  Thanks to a friend and fellow demonstrator, I now have some images to work with and create beautiful images.

Cheery Chirps Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! in the 2017 Holiday Catalog used for Global Design Project 110 Sketch Challenge #GDP110 #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

I have been practicing with my New Stampin’ Blends (available to customers on November 1st) and thought they would be great to use on the Cheery Chirps Images. They did not disappoint and I am starting to get the hang of them.  I still have a lot of playing and learning to do, but I am loving them so far.

If you follow my blog, you know that I am a sucker for Whisper White Card Bases with a 2nd Layer of Whisper White adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  This card follows suit and uses my go-to start. Here are the rest of the details of this card:

  • Card Base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4 1/4 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in.
  • 2nd Layer is Whisper White Cardstock cut to 4 1/8 in x 5 3/8 in, stuck a piece of Linen Thread behind it. then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note: I would recommend tying the Linen Thread around the DSP instead of the 2nd Layer.
  • I took a piece of Merry Little Christmas DSP and cut 2 Strips to 1 1/2 in x 4 1/4 in and adhered them to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I used the “Watercolor Splash Technique” (also known as Ink Smooshing) on Shimmery White Cardstock with Old Olive Ink, then cropped it out with my Big Shot and Stitched Framelits Circle Die. BONUS: Download a Step-by-Step Technique Guide on Watercolor Backgrounds here:  Watercolor Background Technique Guide
  • The Cheery Chirps were stamped with Tuxedo Black Momento Ink on Whisper White Thick Cardstock.  The were colored with the following Stampin’ Blends:  Light and Dark Calypso Coral, Light Cherry Cobbler, Ivory, Light and Dark Old Olive, Light and Dark Crumb Cake. The were fussy cut with my Paper Snips and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I added three Black Rhinestone Jewels to the card for the ‘final touch’. I opted to leave the sentiment for the inside of the card.

My next attempt with Stampin’ Blends will contain more shading and dimension within the colors. I have some practice and reading to do before then but keep coming back to see more inspiration using the Stampin’ Blends!  Want more details on the Stampin’ Blends Premier Alcohol Markers Available November 1st?  Click Here for Details

Global Design Project 109 Color Challenge – Guest Designer

Welcome to an exciting post for me!  During the last Global Design Project Color Challenge, my card was selected as the winner, which means that I take the spot as Guest Designer for this week’s Color Challenge 109 featuring the colors of Old Olive, Basic Black and Gold.  This truly means a lot to me as it is my second go-round as a Guest Designer and I am ecstatic!

If you would like to view my previous post that was picked as a winner, you can do so by clicking on the link below!

I don’t Heat Emboss all too often but when a metallic color is involved, Stampin’ Emboss Powder is the way to go for adding that touch of metallic.  I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder pretty heavily in my creation, but I think it worked well in the end.  The embossed sentiment was hard to photograph without it looking a tad on the blurry side, so please excuse my photography, I tried several attempts at making it look clear and soon just accepted it as is. 🙂

This was my first use of the Season Like Christmas Stamp Set.  I am slowly ticking away at my box of ‘unused’ items from my 2017 Holiday Catalog order.  I chose this set because I saw the colors of the challenge in the trees.  Old Olive was perfect for the Pine Needles, Basic Black worked well for the Tree Trunk/Branches and Ornaments/Dots and I stepped up the Snow to shimmering Gold!

I love dimension and add lots of dimension to all my creations.  Stampin’ Dimensionals get a lot of action in my craft room, as well as my Paper Snips.  Fussy Cutting is a therapy for me, it’s soothing and I think it really steps up a paper craft project. So, to give this project dimension, I fussy cut three of the 4-Step Stamping ‘Trees’ from the Seasons Like Christmas Stamp Set. Since the stamps are Photopolymer, they are clear and easy to see through to line-up for each step needed to create the beautiful tree.

I love flagged ends and add them to several of my cards and scrapbook pages.  They are easy to create with our handy Triple Banner Punch, which accommodates three widths (hence the name, triple).  On this project I just used one size, the 1/2 inch. I cropped 4 different flagged ends using different areas of the Merry Little Christmas DSP to build contrast.  I staggered them and glued them with Fast Fuse behind the Gold Foil.

I also took several stars from the Wood Hearts & Stars Elements.  Stamped Versamark on them, dipped them in the Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set it with my Heat Tool.  (I used a tweezers to hold on to the Star while heating it). I added the Gold Embossed Wood Stars to several areas of my card, using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere them in place.

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Basic Black Cardstock cut to 4 1/4 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in.
  • 2nd Layer is Gold Foil cut 1/8 in smaller than the card base at 4 1/8 in. x 5 3/8 in and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Tip: With the Stampin’ Trimmer, cut out the center of the Gold Foil that will be covered with the next layer to get the most bang for your buck.
  • 3rd Layer is Merry Little Christmas DSP cut to 4 in x 5 1/4 in and adhered to the Gold Foil with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • I used the largest Stitched Shape Circle Framelit to crop out the Gold Foil circle and adhered to the bottom left corner with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I cut another piece of Gold Foil to 3 in x 4 in, staggered the flags I created with the Triple Banner Punch behind it and then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Basic Black Cardstock was cut 1/8 in. smaller than the Gold Foil (2 7/8 in. x 3 7/8 in.) . I used the Star stamp from the Seasons Like Christmas to stamp in Versamark and Heat Embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  It was adhered to the Gold Foil with Fast Fuse.
  • I stamped the two sentiments in Versamark on Basic Black Cardstock, Heat Embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I cropped one with the 1 3/4 in. Circle Punch and cut the other to size (1/2 in x 2 1/2  before flagging) with my Stampin’ Trimmer.  I flagged the end with my Triple Banner Punch.  I added Gold Metallic Thread behind the circle sentiment and Wood Star Elements, Heat Embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (as stated above), to each piece.
  • The Trees were stamped on Whisper White Cardstock in the following order:  Old Olive for the Pine Needles, Basic Black Archival Ink for the Tree Trunk, Versamark for the Snow (two stamps) adding Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder heated with the Heat Tool and then Basic Black Archival Ink again for the Dots/Ornaments. I fussy cut each one and adhered with Fast Fuse and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a Embossed Wood Star Element to the top of the tallest tree.
  • The two pieces on the top left were scraps from making my flagged ends on the bottom left. I staggered them, adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added two Gold Embossed Stars.
