Birthday Blooms Card for Global Design Project
Global Design Project Color Challenge is front and center on my blog today! #GDP097. I had just created a card with a very similar color combination of Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo and Garden Green, but used the You’ve Got This Stamp Set (it will be featured on my blog in the days to come). So, I decided to use a similar layout, the new color combination of Crumb Cake, Berry Burst and Wild Wasabi but changed the stamp set to Birthday Blooms.
The Birthday Blooms Card uses another stamp set that I had on my list of sets that I needed to show some love. I think Birthday Blooms works perfectly for this color combination and the use of White Embossing Powder for the line detail. It works well against the Crumb Cake Cardstock background!
Card Details:
- Card Base Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 4.25 in x 11 in and scored/folded at 5.5 in.
- Berry Burst Cardstock is cut to 4 1/16 in x 5 3/16 in and adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Crumb Cake was used again and cut to 4 in x 5.25 in. I added Berry Burst Classic Ink to an Aqua Painter, squeezed it and then shook it over the top of the card to get the ink splatter effect.
- I stamped the Floral Images from the Birthday Blooms stamp set on Crumb Cake Cardstock in Versamark Ink. I then added White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated with the Heat Tool. After cooling, I fussy cut each image with my trusty Paper Snips! Did you know you can get a set of Paper Snips free during the Month of July? Click here for details.(Christmas in July)
- I added color to the flowers using Blender Pens. Blender Pens are great to obtain a watercolor look on paper that is not so watercolor friendly, such as Crumb Cake. The Rose Petals are colored with Berry Burst and the leaves are colored with Wild Wasabi. Tip: The Crumb Cake Cardstock grabs the color quickly and hangs on tight to it. So, you want to add the color first to the areas that you would like darker, then work your way out. (I always started on the tips of the leaves first). You do not want to stay in one area for too long, otherwise the cardstock starts to pill (if you look closely you can see it a bit on the large rose).
- I stamped the sentiments in Versamark on Basic Black Cardstock and added the White Stampin’ Emboss Powder to make them pop. I fussy cut with the flow of the sentiments, I think they look lovely this way!
- The Dear Friend sentiment was adhered with Fast Fuse Adhesive, the flowers and other sentiment were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The final touch was added by strategically gluing (with a fine-tip glue pen) various sizes of Metallic Sequins to the card front and adding a few flowers to coordinate the envelope. Although Crumb Cake Envelopes are no longer available, you can easily create one with Crumb Cake Cardstock and the Envelope Punch Board.
