Birch! I love, love, love the Birch Background Stamp!
The Stamp Review Crew, a ground of stampers from around the globe that love Stampin’ Up! products, is hopping and featuring the Birch background stamp! This stamp pairs with so many different sets and is perfect for masculine creations. In today’s card, Birch paired with Nature’s Beauty, a sneak peek of a new stamp set from the 2019 Holiday Catalog. Nature’s Beauty is the “making a difference” stamp, which means for every stamp set sold, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 towards mental health organizations. How amazing is that? I don’t know if there is a family out there that hasn’t been affected, in some way or another, by mental health, so what a better way to help raise money for a cause and earn an amazing stamp set as well!
I love the sepia look and I think the Birch Background stamp is stepped up by adding a little water and giving it a sepia feel. What do you think?
Cut a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11. Score and fold at 5 1/2.
Adhere a 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 piece of Soft Suede to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use a Stamparatus to stamp the Birch stamp in Soft Suede Ink onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Use an Aqua Painter to add water to the lines of the Birch stamped image. Cut to 4 x 5 1/4 and adhere to the card with Snail Adhesive.
Use the landscape die (In The Woods Dies) and a die-cutting machine to crop 3 1/4 x 4 piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Stamp the grass with a Clear Block A and Soft Suede Ink onto the two pieces of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Add water from an Aqua Painter. Adhere together and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp the deer (Nature’s Beauty) and bushes in Soft Suede Ink onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Add water with an Aqua Painter. Snip with Paper Snips and adhere with Snail Adhesive and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp the sentiment (Itty Bitty Birthdays) in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Soft Suede Ink that has been rubbed with an Embossing Buddy. Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, flick to remove the excess, and set with a Heat Tool. Snip to size with Paper Snips. Adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
What do you think? Anything you would change or do differently? Do you like the watercolor look? I love to hear your thoughts!
Do you struggle with masculine cards? I hear that a lot, but masculine cards are some of my favorite to create…it may be because of the way I was brought up (horses, hunting, and more) so they come easier to me, not sure, but I truly hope I am inspiring others to help create more masculine creations.

Lovely card Stesha. I can’t believe I don’t have that stamp. So creative to use it sideways and the aqua pen on watercolor paper does make it look just like sepia.
A beautiful different way to use this stamp — I love how you blurred the lines with some watercoloring and added fun texture and layers!
This is awesome and your birch background looks so real as if I could reach out and feel the texture! Since I am allergic to birch, this is a perfect alternative! TSF

Love the addition of the watercoloring. Such a gorgeous card.
I really appreciate your creative ideas for this card. Genius to use water to enhance the birch effect. Looking at how to use your inspiration as base for a Christmas card this year.
