The TGIF Challenge #tgifc387 this week is all about a technique: Cut it Out! So I am showcasing two ways to “Cut it Out” – Fussy Cutting and Die-Cutting. The adorable squirrels were cut from the Nuts About Squirrels were snipped with Paper Snips, then framed with Crumb Cake Cardstock that was die-cut with the Diorama Dies.

Hmmm…so I guess I have made a card with this same stamp set…I completely forgot it and didn’t realize my current design was so close to this one. I even made a time lapse video showing how I used a water painter to color the squirrels that were stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock. You can see the original blog post here: Cute Critters

The Layering Diorama Dies are an amazing asset to add to your paper crafting supplies. You can do so many things with them. I have a few more ideas as I have lots of pieces sitting in my tray of “trash” that need to get used up (that is where I grabbed my squirrels from).
Layering Diorama Dies | 155565 | $29.00

Begin with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock. Score and fold at 4 1/4.
Cut two pieces of Crumb Cake Cardstock to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Crop the centers of each with Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using a different size Layering Diorama Die. I used the 5th and 6th LARGEST dies.
Crop the top of the Crumb Cake card base with the 4th largest Layering Diorama Die.
Crop a piece of card stock (any color) with the same (4th largest) Layering Diorama Die to create a template from the negative space. Lay the template over a 5 x 3 3/4 piece of Basic White Cardstock. Use Blending Brushes to add Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink.
Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink as shown. Layer and adhere to a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Soft Suede Cardstock and to the inside of the card base.
Stamp the squirrels in Jet Black Stazon Ink onto Shimmery White Cardstock. Color with a Water Painter and Soft Suede Classic Ink. (Watch my video demo here). Trim the squirrels closely with Paper Snips. Adhere as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I really love the way you used the diorama dies to give great dimension to this card. Very cute scene! (We feed squirrels so I’m going to use that set to make a card for my husband’s birthday and put some corn from the “Chick’s” set along with the squirrels.)
