How cute is that little guy? Or so we thought…well, Moose is still “cute” but little, not so much! When we adopted him from a rescue about a month ago, we were excited to have another Dachshund in the family, even though he was a mix (we do not know what he is mixed with, but we have our theories…Rhodesian Ridgeback anyone?)
He was a little under 12 lbs when we picked him up 4 weeks ago. We weighed him a few days ago and he is already over 20 lbs…how big will he get? We have NO IDEA! Hopefully not much over 25 lbs… but we have little hope for as fast as he is growing. He wears his name well.
MOOSE
His paws are HUGE compared to the rest of him. His chest is very broad and muscular. He has short Dachshund legs and is colored similar to a Red Dachshund but his snout isn’t quite as long. Scouring the internet for similarities, we did find one #RhodoWeenie. It’s a close match.
We will do a DNA test, and I will share the results with you once we have them!
So I would love to hear what your guesses are? Dachshund + ??
I created this card back in April, not knowing it would be so fitting to our family! It sure is nice to have Moose by our side! He has brought so much to our family in such a little time. I can’t wait to see what happens in our years to come.
My supply list is below. If anyone requests a tutorial, I can put one together.
try dachshund and black mouth cur – I have a black mouth cur mix and we think she is mixed with corgi. Those darn mountain dogs seem to get around! LOL
Love the card as well as the throw back projects! Your puppy!!!! ADORABLE!! We got a yellow lab in May and holy buckets, he has grown leaps and bounds. looking at the side view of Moose, I see some lab esp the feet, snout and ears. It will be interesting to see how big he does get with the Dachshund mixed in.100 pound short legged dog who is 10 feet long lol
With those big feet, he has more growing to do.
Thank you so very much for adopting. Adopters are really needed right now. I just recently adopted a female I have no clue what she is but she is small and a beautiful brindle color. I could not be happier with her. I am wondering what DNA are you going to do because I want to do the DNA too but there are so many different ones to choose from. I think you dog looks like a Pug Beagle Mix in the face. I like the card you made too
Love the card and I especially love Moose!!!❤️ you actually could be right with your guess that it’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback; I just seen very few around ever other than on TV. The second thing that hit me right away was his chest and it reminded me of an American Staffordshire Terrier I used to have until her passing and also a Boxer my son used to have until his passing. Both were so joyful and playful all the time and as big as they were they didn’t realize that they were way too large to be lapdogs, so anytime they wanted to watch TV, they would jump in your lap and hugging you at the same time; incredible funny characters, even with the grandkids when they were little. The only other breed that comes close to the chest being built like this along with the rapid growth and huge paws, someone already mentioned and it’s the yellow Black-mouth Cur. Often people think that if a dog is mixed with a pit Bull/Terrier breed they would have the short ears standing up; which a lot of them have. Every pit breed both my son and I have ever had, has had the longer droopy like ears and I’ve only ever had one with a really bad temper ever, all the others were lapdogs, escape artists and scared to death of anything out of the norm and they will cry and tremble out of fear; especially during bad weather or strangers and if you don’t console them when they are that way, they’ll find themselves a hiding place. Mine were even scared to death of cats. I had a cat that owned me for almost 20 years and all she had to do is say something in cat talk and the dog would hide. If she needed body heat she pushed her around in her bed until she found a good spot to lay down and they slept together. They are all very loving dogs except the one you mentioned from what I’ve heard, but then it could be wrong like most people think the Pit Bulls breed are all vicious killers, when you can make a killer out of most dogs if you train them as such or abuse them; if you raise them from a pup and they know who the boss is in the house and at the same time show them unlimited love and affection and you’ll never have a bad dog. Cats will own you though even if you raise them. 😂 Sorry about the long book here and can’t wait what you find out from the test.
Love the card, especially since it has the boy & his dog. We have 2 dachshunds and the bring us so much joy. I have no idea on what Moose is mixed with but he sure is a cutie. Thank you for providing him a loving home, may ya’ll have many years together, enjoying & loving him.
