Best Birds Watercolor Birthday Card for a Special Someone!

I love to watercolor and one of my favorite stamp sets to use the watercolor technique is the Best Birds Photopolymer Stamp Set.  I made this Best Birds Watercolor Birthday Card for my Grandma, who will be celebrating her 84th Birthday on May 7th. The 10% Discount offered for purchasing the Bundle (stamp set and coordinating thinlit dies) will only be available through May 31st.  You can still purchase the two items separately after this date but if you want the discount, make sure to place your order prior to the last day in May!

Card Details:

• The card base is made of Thick Whisper White Cardstock cut to 5.5 in x 11 in and scored/folded at 5.5 in to make a square card.
• The next layer is Watercolor Paper cut to 5 in x 5 in.  I colored the bottom portion with the Calypso Coral Watercolor Pencil and then used an Aqua Painter to blend and spread the color throughout the entire layer, keeping it darker near the focal point of the birds.
• I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around the Watercolor Paper layer 3 times and then finished with a bow (also 3 pieces).  The layer was attached to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it dimension 🙂
• The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped directly on the Watercolor Paper with Basic Black Archival Ink.
• The Birds, Branch and Flowers (all from the Best Birds Stamp Set) were stamped on a separate sheet of Watercolor Paper, colored somewhat heavily with different shades of Watercolor Pencils and then lightly blended with Aqua Painters to keep the color deep but still have a watercolor feel.  All were then cropped with the coordinating Birds and Blooms Thinlits Dies.  They were then adhered with Dimensionals to pop them up from the background.

To me this card just screams Spring is Here!  I wish the weather would be screaming the same, but here in WI, it has been cold and rainy..even spouting some snow here and there. Hasn’t felt much like Spring but I am hoping it turns around in the next week or so.
