Butterfly Basics Birthday for CAS(E) This Sketch #231
I found another challenge that inspired me, so I created this beautiful birthday card with the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set that I have had for some time and never inked up..So it finally got it chance and I have to say, I am in love with it! So many wonderful elements, images and AMAZING mixed fonts used for the sentiments. And I gotta say, it worked well for the challenge over at CAS(E) this sketch!
The color combination that I went with was from the Regals family. Crushed Curry, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze are the focal point of the card. I think the colors are a Hoot-a-Riffic combination so I went ahead and made another Pin worthy image for you! Make sure to follow me on Pinterest! I just LOVE the flowers from this set, they are stunning. I hadn’t used Cajun Craze in awhile and that happens to be my favorite flower color, mixed with yellow tones so Crushed Curry was a good color to pair with it.
Card Details:
- Card Base: Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4.25 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in.
- 2nd Layer: Whisper White Cardstock cut to 4.x 5.25 in. Adhered to base with Stampin’ Dimensionals
- I cut a piece of the Wood Texture DSP to .75 in x 5 in. I stamped the the diagonal stripes stamp in Cajun Craze on Whisper White, cut it to size and glued it to the Wood Texture DSP. Then I flagged the ends using the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered it to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
- I took the Honeycomb stamp, inked it up with Early Espresso ink and stamped it several times onto the Wood Texture DSP. Then I zipped it through the Big Shot with the largest straight edge Square in the Layering Squares Framelits Dies.
- I took the Square Framelit that was two sizes smaller than the previous one and cropped out a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock. Then added a bit of Crushed Curry color with an Aqua Painter.
- The Butterflies, Flower and Fern were all stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock. The Flower was stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink and colored with an Aqua Painter. The stems and leaves are Always Artichoke and the petals are Cajun Craze. The Fern was stamped in Always Artichoke. Both images were snipped with a Paper Snips. The Butterflies were stamped in Crushed Curry. The smaller one was snipped out with a Paper Snips and the Larger one was cropped with the coordinating Thinlit and the Big Shot. All Images were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The Happy Birthday was stamped directly onto the Whisper White Layer with Early Espresso Ink.
If you want to add the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set to your collection, I recommend pairing it with the coordinating Butterfly Thinlits Dies! It easily crops out the floral butterfly, but it also adds some amazing detailed butterfly dies to the mix! A Must Have!
The reason I love to fussy cut most images (if there is not a coordinating framelit available) is because it allows me to give my card all kinds of dimension. I LOVE DIMENSION! Although a flat card can be gorgeous as well, I love the texture and feel of the dimension I can give to a card but snipping out the images.
