Hoot N’ Easy Monday: Spooky Fun Night

Hoot N’ Easy Monday: Spooky Fun Night

Welcome to my all new blog feature!  Hoot N’ Easy Monday’s will now give out a double dose of creativity!  I will be featuring two cards of the same layout.  One creation will be quick and easy and the other will be stepped-up a “Hoot”, in others words, shows my added flair. I want to be sure to relate to paper crafters at all levels and I think offering this double dose will help me better service the new and seasoned crafter!

Today I feature two Happy Halloween Cards created with the Spooky Cat Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper.  I just received this today and I had to play!  The Designer Series Paper is so much fun and easy to coordinate with the Spooky Cat Stamp Set.  The Owl (of course, you know I love owls) is just asking to be joined with the piece of DSP that contains a branch for it to perch on!

First I will show you my Quick N’ Easy version.  Very little fussy cutting (in fact none if you prefer) is needed on this card.

Details:

  • Card Base is Very Vanilla Cardstock cut to 4 1/4 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.1/2 in.
  • 2nd Layer is a piece of Spooky Night DSP cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I wrapped a piece of Vintage Crochet Trim around the bottom and tied it in a knot prior to adhering it to the card base.
  • Top Layer is the Tree/Branch/Moon Square cut from a piece of Spooky Night DSP.  You can either stamp the Owl (from the Spooky Cat Photopolymer Set) in Basic Black Archival Ink directly on the DSP or you can stamp it on Very Vanilla Cardstock and fussy cut it with a Paper Snips.  I adhered the square and the owl with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Happy Halloween Sentiment is stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and quickly cropped out with the Classic Label Punch.  This is also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals (My Free Hoot Loot for the Month of September!).
  • I added one lone Black Rhinestone Jewels to the bottom left of the owl.

Next I show you my Stepped-Up a Hoot! Version.  This one entails a lot of fussy cutting, which if you follow me, you know I LOVE to FUSSY CUT!

  • Top Layer is the Tree/Branch/Moon Square cut from a piece of Spooky Night DSP.  I added Fast Fuse Adhesive around the backside so that I could adhere the Vintage Crochet Trim and create a border with it.  I adhered to the 2nd Layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I stamped the Owl the from Spooky Cat Stamp Set in Basic Black Archival Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock and snipped it out with Paper Snips. I then took another Tree/Branch/Moon Square and fussy cut the tree, adhered it with snipped up Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it pop!  I am a sucker for dimension, so I love to take the extra time to add it to my creations.
  • The image from Spooky Cat that resembles washi tape, was stamped in Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I fussy cut it with Paper Snips and adhered to the DSP Layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Happy Halloween Sentiment is stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I fussy cut around the letters with the Paper Snips and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals (My Free Hoot Loot for the Month of September!).
  • I strategically added three Black Rhinestone Jewels around the owl.
