#tgifc222 – Technique Challenge – Shake It Up with Leaf Ribbon

#tgifc222 Technique Challenge - Shake It Up Shaker Card using Animal Outing from Stampin' Up! Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! #stampinup

TGIF! It’s Time for a Technique!
Welcome to another TGIF Challenge, this week is a technique!  Let’s shake it up with “shaker cards”.   I have only made a select few shaker cards in my years as a crafter.  They just don’t sit high on my radar so I need a challenge like this one to get me thinking!

I didn’t have a lot of options for the “shaker” part, I have some sequins, but I wanted something different.  I spotted the “frame” that I had left over from a previous creation and it sparked a thought…what if I finally unwrapped the packaging on my leaf ribbon and actually used it? I love it, it’s been sitting on my ribbon shelf just begging to be used…so I decided to chop it up!  I cut the individual leaves off the ribbon and used them as my “shaker”…and I LOVE it! How about you?

Cut a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.

Zip a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of Shimmery White Cardstock through a die-cutting machine tucked inside the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder.

Use the largest Stitched Nested Label Die and the die-cutting machine to crop the opening as shown.  Lightly mark the bottom edge of the card base with the bottom of the opening (to create a guide of where to stamp).

Use the Stamparatus to position and stamp the rhino and sentiment onto the card base with Jet Black Stazōn Ink. Use an Aqua Painter and the following classic inks to add color:  Balmy Blue (sky), Soft Suede (ground), Smoky Slate (rhino), Terracotta Tile & Crushed Curry (bird).

Adhere a window sheet to the back of the embossed cardstock with Tear & Tape Adhesive, ensuring it covers the opening completely.  Adhere Foam Adhesive Strips along the edge of the die-cut opening.

Cut several leaves off of a strip of Leaf Ribbon.  Lay on the center of the card and adhere the frame (using the Foam Adhesive Strips you just added).

Stamp the giraffe with Jet Black Stazōn Ink. Use an Aqua Painter and the following classic inks to add color:  Soft Suede & Crushed Curry.  Snip with Paper Snips and adhere, tucked under the frame as shown.

Since I was short on time for this post, I decided to keep the card similar to a previous design, just change up a few elements.
