DIY Buffalo Plaid for Global Design Project 098
Today I am playing along with the always inspiring Global Design Project! This week is a sketch challenge that I am pretty excited about. I love FLAGs, especially flags made easy when using our Banner Triple Punch.
I have been dying to try a DIY Buffalo Plaid technique that I saw on display at OnStage Local Minneapolis. If I remember right, it was created by the talented Holly Stene (hoping to give credit where credit is due).
After deciding to create the red and black buffalo plaid, I scanned through my ‘yet to be used’ stamp sets and the lady bug jumped out. Black and Red, PERFECT. The sketch is pretty simple and I wanted to keep it just that.
Card Details:
- Card Base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4.25 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in.
- 2nd Layer is Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 4.125 in x 5.375 in (1/8 in smaller than card base for a subtle layer)
- The Buffalo Plaid look was created with Real Red Cardstock and Basic Black Archival Ink. I took the Brushstrokes Background Stamp; stamped once vertically and once horizontally. #quickandeasy
- The Crumb Cake Flag is 1 in wide x 2.5 in long.
- The Old Olive Flag is .75 in wide x 3 in long.
- The Buffalo Plaid Flag is 2 in wide x 4.25 in long.
- The Branch and Lady Bug are stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink onto Shimmery White Cardstock and colored with an Aqua Painter. The three colors I used were Real Red, Old Olive and Soft Suede.
- I adhered all pieces of cardstock the card base and card top with Stampin’ Dimensionals or Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- I added various sizes of the Black Mettalic Sequins to the card using my trusty Fine-Tip Glue Pen.
- I wrapped several loops of Linen Thread around the top of the card and secured it with a bow.
