Happy Monday Everyone!
I am so excited that today the Stamp Review Crew is showcasing the fabulous Beauty Abounds Bundle. I have made a few cards with this set and I just realized that all of them have a watercolored rainbow background! You can see my previous creations listed at the bottom of this post.
This card I created during my craft retreat last weekend. I am slowly picking through my creations one by one and getting them shared. I have so much more to share…stay tuned.
The colors I used for my background are similar to those you see in my owl. I used Coastal Cabana, So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo. I just love that color combination when applied as watercolor, it is so soft and pretty…and reminds me of Spring!
Cut a piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock to 3 1/2″ x 11″. Score and fold at 5 1/2″.
Cut a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock to 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Create a watercolor wash background using an Aqua Painter and the following Classic Inks: Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, and Flirty Flamingo. Allow to dry completely. TIP: Use a Heat Tool on low heat to speed up the dry time if needed. Adhere with Snail Adhesive.
Cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 3″ x 5″. Duplicate the watercolor wash background used on the Shimmery White. Allow to dry and add another light layer of color. After it dries completely, use a Clear Block B to stamp the bokeh images in Versamark Ink onto the Watercolor Paper. Cover with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder, flick to remove the excess, then set with a Heat Tool. Adhere to the card with a generous amount of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use a die-cutting machine, plate and “butterfly group” die (Butterfly Beauty) to crop piece of Shimmery White Cardstock. Snip the butterflies apart with a Paper Snips (5 individual butterflies). Adhere 3 of the butterflies as shown with Mini Glue Dots and snipped-to-size Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use a Clear Block C to stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock that has been rubbed with an Embossing Buddy. Snip apart (as shown) with a Paper Snips and adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Add small Grapefruit Grove Faceted Dots to the center of the butterflies for the perfect added touch.
Although the clear embossed bokeh dots are subtle, I thought they added a small touch of wow to the card. What do you think? Is it worth the time?
Embossing your sentiments in white on a dark color cardstock is one of my favorite ways to make a sentiment pop! The softness of the Smoky Slate is perfect for this cards color combination.
