Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
For this month’s Stampin’ Pretty Pals Blog Hop, we’re celebrating birthdays—one of my favorite occasions to create for. Handmade birthday cards feel extra special because they’re a little celebration all on their own, and I love adding layers, texture, and soft color to make the design feel joyful and meaningful.
This card came together with a dreamy mix of soft pink florals, leafy accents, and an embossed background that adds just the right amount of texture. The torn paper edges and layered branch give the design a relaxed, organic feel, while the delicate ribbon and twine bow add that final sweet detail. It’s the kind of card that feels cheerful and elegant at the same time—perfect for sending birthday wishes.

What makes this design especially fun for me is how much it reminds me of my Stampin’ Hoot! logo. My little owl sits perched on a flowering branch, surrounded by blossoms, and this card has that same whimsical “perched in the blossoms” feel. The branch and flowers almost look like the perfect place for my crafty owl to land, which makes this project feel extra on brand for Stampin’ Hoot.
card tutorial: delightful wishes birthday card
- Begin with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4.
- Distress the edges of a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Pretty In Pink Cardstock.
- Zip a 5 x 3 3/4 piece of Basic White Cardstock through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) tucked inside the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder. Distress the edges.
- Use a Blending Brush to add Pretty in Pink ink to the embossed layer.
- Layer and adhere the two layers together and to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue . Optional: Use a Mini-Stapler to staple two corners together.
- Stamp the following using the Delightful Wishes Stamp Set and noted ink colors:
- wishing – Strawberry Slush
- you a happy birthday – Pretty in Pink
- flowers – Pretty in Pink, Strawberry Slush. (two-step)
- leaves – Granny Apple Green
- Crop with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) and the coordinating Delightful Wishes dies & a piece of Pecan Pie Cardstock with the branch die. Stamp the sentiment in Secret Sea Ink onto the Basic White Cardstock.
- Adhere to the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and snipped-to-size Mini Glue Dots.
- Tie a triple bow of White Baker’s Twine and secure with a Mini Glue Dot.
- Cut a piece of Strawberry Slush Faux Linen Ribbon into small strips. Tie a double bow and adhere with a Mini Glue Dot.
- Embellish with Strawberry Slush Dots and Basic White Natural Matte Dots.
