Fabulous Flamingo with the Stamp Review Crew

Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Card Created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! for the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop

Fabulous Flamingo!

What more can I say other than I think it is just FABULOUS!  I decided to go with a non-traditional look to the flamingo and went dual colored!  Coastal Cabana on the top and Flirty Flamingo on the bottom.  What do you think?  It is one of my favorite color combinations so I just have to give it a go.

Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Card Created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! for the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. With a Stampin’ Trimmer, cut a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock to 4 1/4″ x 11″.  Score and fold at 5 1/2″.
  2. Cur a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4″.  Stamp the water ripples, grass and flamingo legs, as shown, in Jet Black StazOn Ink.  Use an Aqua Painter to add Coastal Cabana ink  (water).  Adhere with Snail Adhesive.
  3. Stamp two flamingo images in Jet Black StazOn Ink onto Shimmery White Cardstock.  Use an Aqua Painter to color the top in Coastal Cabana and bottom in Flirty Flamingo.  Snip with a Paper Snips. Adhere as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Tip:  I added two layers of dimensionals to the darker flamingo to make it look like it was closer to you.
  4. Stamp the “I Love You…” and “Happy Birthday” (Itty Bitty Sentiments) in Versamark Ink onto Basic Black Cardstock.  Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Flick to remove excess and set with a heat tool.  Snip to size with a Paper Snips.  Adhere the Happy Birthday as shown with Snail Adhesive.
  5. Cut a 6 inch piece of Flirty Flamingo 1/8″ ribbon (All My Love Ribbon Pack).  Wrap and adhere behind the love sentiment.  Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Add three black Best Route Enamel Dots as shown for the final touch.

The sketched look to the flamingo makes this stamp set easy to use as the lines are forgiving and do not need to be perfect.  Instead of coloring the flamingo with an Aqua Painter, you could use the solid stamp images to build the flamingo using 2-step stamping.

The Best Route Enamel Shapes and the Flirty Flamingo Ribbon from the All My Love Ribbon Pack were perfect touches for this card.  Any enamel shape is a staple in my craft room and is a go-to to add that final pop that a card may need.

I have seen so many great creations using the Dashing Deer Bundle.  Last week I created my first double gate-fold card using this set (shown below).  I went with a non-traditional colored Christmas card for today’s creation.  Tranquil Tide mixed with Gray Granite, lovely!

The Galvanized Metallic Paper has just the perfect matte finish to match the shimmer from the First Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I used Jet Black StazOn Ink so that I would have to heat set the ink with a Heat Tool (to prevent smearing).  StazOn is fast-drying, but I still recommend setting it aside for a minute to ensure it is fully dry prior to cropping the image.

Mixing and matching the various Stitched Shaped Dies that Stampin’ Up! offers is always my go-to when I want to make a card with many elements and layers.  Sometimes I overdo it and add a few too many…but that is my style and I am sticking to it :).

There are so many different embellishments offered that would work well with this card.  The Metallic Pearls and Share What You Love Artisan Pearls were a perfect match for this card.  I decided to solely use the Silver Metallic Pearls, but I think the Tranquil Tide Artisan Pearls would have been a fabulous choice as well.

Buffalo Check Stamp Set & Alpine Adventures Bundle by Stampin' Up! Northwoods Christmas Card created by Stesha Bloodhart. Stampin' Hoot! #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. With a Stampin’ Trimmer, cut a piece of Basic Black 12x12 Cardstock to 4 3/4″ x 12″.  Score and fold at 6″.
  2. Cut a piece of Wood Textures 6x6 Designer Series Paper to 4 1/2″ x 6″.  Adhere with Snail Adhesive.
  3. Cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  4. Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock to 5″ x 6″.  Use a Stamparatus to stamp the Buffalo Check Background Stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Stamp as many times as needed to get desired coverage.  (3 times works for me).  Trim the cardstock down to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.  Note:  I followed the outside lines of the dark check rows all the way around and the result is a perfectly sized top-layer for a card base.
  5. Cut a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to 3/4″ x 4 1/4″.  Adhere to the buffalo check cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  Cut an 18″ piece of Black 1/2″ Satin Ribbon. Wrap around as shown and secure with a bow.
  6. Stamp two feet buckles & snow shoe images in Versamark onto  Wood Texture Designer Series Paper. Cover with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with a Heat Tool.  Crop with the coordinating framelits from the Alpine Sports Thinlits Dies.
  7. Crop two runner sleds with a Big Shot and framelit die.  Cut one down so you have the “wood” pieces as shown.
  8. Press the “Merry” element and one of the runner sleds into a Versamark Ink Pad.  Cover with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with a Heat Tool.  Repeat until you have the desired coverage.  Adhere all images and elements as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  9. Stamp the “Christmas Greeting” sentiment in Versamark Ink onto Basic Black Cardstock.  Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with a heat tool. Snip apart with a Paper Snips.  Adhere with Snail Adhesive.

The Festive Farmhouse Elements look fabulous embossed in Basic Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Just press the element into a Versamark Pad, cover with any color embossing powder and set with a Heat Tool!  Need more coverage?  Repeat the process until the desired thickness is achieved.  Mine has two layers, which covered the element perfectly and gave it a little pop!

Repeat the embossing technique with the runner sled.  After you finish with embossing, crop another runner sled in the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, snip out the “wood” pieces with a Paper Snips and adhere with Fast Fuse.

Did you know that Fast Fuse is back and offered with a deep discount on the clearance rack?  I am stocking up again, are you?

Country Home is such a gorgeous set. I love the fonts they used, it reminds me of one I used on my images last year.  We attended a wedding on Saturday and they used rustic milk cans as the decor, it was amazing and made me think of this stamp set.

Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets are the perfect accent to pair with the Country Home Stamp Set. The Galvanized Metallic Paper has the same matte look as the frosted so I chose to use them on this card.
