This Little Piggy Believed She Could…So She Did!
Ever have a need to send a card to congratulate someone where persistence has paid off? This Little Piggy Stamp Set has the perfect sentiments for all kinds of occasions. I created this card for the most important woman in my life, my Mom! She has been working a part-time job as a janitor in a school in Northern WI for the last few years. The shift was opposite of my Step-Dad’s and included some weekends so it wasn’t an ideal job for her current lifestyle. She loves working with kids! They have had several Para jobs open up in the last two years and she has always submitted her letter of interest and completed the interview process only to find someone that had more experience had been hired. It didn’t deter her, she kept at it, stayed persistent and it paid off! She was hired as a Para for 3rd and 4th Graders in the upcoming school year. No more weekends or shifts opposite her husband AND she gets to work one-on-one with kids! I am so proud of her and happy for this new start. I know she will do great and change lives of the kids she works with!
I used my typical layout and techniques on this card. I didn’t intend to use ribbon, but sometimes there is a need to add elements….especially in those cases when you have to cover up your mistake… Everyone does it..has a card close to complete and goes to stamp the sentiment, only to pull the clear block away and find out…”it’s crooked”. So, out came some ribbon to cover it up and a new layout was born. I decided to add another cloud next to a now flag-ended sentiment.
Are the sentiments in this set just perfect for so many different occasions? I know I said this before, but they just are! Did you see my previous post showcasing This Little Piggy Set? If not, you can see it here: This Little Piggy Stamp Set Makes Me Happy!
Card Details:
- Card Base: Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4.25 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in.
- 2nd Layer: Shimmery White Cardstock cut to 4 x 5.25 in. Adhered to base with Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Prior to adhering 2nd layer: Add the Sky with an Aqua Painter and Soft Sky Classic Ink. Stamp the “She Believed She Could…” sentiment on the Shimmery White Cardstock (after the watercolor dries completely) with Basic Black Archival Ink. I stamped it almost exactly in the middle of the card (close, I never measure). Tip: I cover the pig with retired Washi Tape to ensure ink is added to only the sentiment. Don’t forget to remove the Washi Tape before stamping on your cardstock. Wrap the Smoky Slate 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon around the Shimmery White and secure with a knot. Add some Baker’s Twine for added color (I didn’t realize the color I used is retired…whoops).
- Images: The Pig was stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock using Basic Black Archival Ink. The Clouds were also stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock, this time I used the Basic Gray Archical Ink, stamping on scrap paper first to lighten it. I used an Aqua Painter and these Classic Inks to add the color: Pig: Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate. Clouds: Smoky Slate
- I adhered the images with Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and Snail Adhesive.
