There are some cards that simply speak from the heart, and this is one of them. While the Pretty Poinsettia Bundle may have “Christmas” in its name, I wanted to show just how versatile it can be. With a soft color palette and a heartfelt sentiment, this beautiful bloom becomes the perfect sympathy, thinking of you, or encouragement card.
And can we take a moment to admire this color combination? I am absolutely smitten! The Crisp Cantaloupe card base creates such a warm, comforting backdrop, while the soft Barely Blush poinsettia feels elegant and serene. It’s a fresh take on a classic flower, proving that poinsettias aren’t just for the holidays.
The real magic of this card is all in the texture. Before adding any color, I die cut all of the poinsettia petals and leaves using the Pretty Poinsettia Bundle, then ran each piece through the NEW Impressions Plate. The added detail gives every petal and leaf beautiful dimension, making them look wonderfully lifelike.
Once everything was textured, I brought the pieces to life with Stampin’ Blends. The petals were softly shaded with Barely Blush and Crisp Cantaloupe, while the leaves were blended with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow for rich, natural depth. Because the texture is already pressed into the cardstock, the Stampin’ Blends settle beautifully around the raised details, making the impressed design stand out even more.
To finish the card, I added a simple “Sending Hugs” sentiment created with the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies. The gold foiling adds just the right touch of elegance and provides a striking contrast against the soft florals. A few coordinating embellishments complete the design without taking away from the beautiful focal point.
Stampin’ Blends Colors Used:
- Mossy Meadow
- Old Olive
- Crisp Cantaloupe
- Barely Blush
I kept the color palette simple with a monochromatic combination of Mossy Meadow and Old Olive, letting the gold foil accents take center stage. The layered leafy branches create beautiful dimension, while the softly stamped background adds just enough interest without stealing the spotlight. A few sparkling embellishments finish it off with the perfect touch of shimmer.
One of my favorite things about crafting is discovering new ways to use products beyond their intended season. This card is a perfect example. By simply changing the colors and pairing the poinsettia with a heartfelt sentiment, it transforms into a meaningful card that can bring comfort, encouragement, or support to someone who needs it most.
I hope this card inspires you to look at your holiday products in a whole new way. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh color palette to discover a whole new favorite! 💗
I especially like that this post highlights the technique—die cutting, impressing, then coloring—which is exactly the kind of detail your readers love to learn. It also gives the Impressions Plate the spotlight it deserves.
