Welcome to my Hoot N’ Easy Friday Pick A Pumpkin Blog Feature.  This week I am using the Pick a Pumpkin Bundle to show a Quick N’ Easy Halloween Card as well as one that has been Stepped-Up A Hoot! The Reason:  I want to show the versatility of Stampin’ Up! products and how you can keep things simple and still make a striking card with minimal products and papercrafting experience. I also want to show the seasoned paper crafters how amazing creations can be when you use all tools and accessories that Stampin’ Up! Offers!  How am I doing?  Comment Here

When creating with the Pick A Pumpkin Bundle, I always gravitate to a portrait card. I did this on a previous Pick A Pumpkin card that you can see by click the link below:

Pick A Pumpkin for GDP 105 Color Challenge

Quick N’ Easy Card Details:

  • Card Base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 8 in x 7 in and scored / folded at 3.5 in to create a long and skinny, portrait style card.
  • 2nd Layer is Crumb Cake Cardstock cut 1/4 inch smaller to 7 3/4 in x 3 1/4 in. Adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • 3rd Layer is Whisper White Cardstock cut to 7 1/2 in x 3 in and adhered to the Crumb Cake with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • All Pumpkins from the Pick a Pumpkin Stamp Set were stamped in Tangerine Tango Ink with Basic Black Archival Ink for the faces.
  • I used Lemon-Lime Twist and Basic Black Archival Ink (Ink Pads and Stampin’ Write Markers) on the leaves.
  • The 1/4 in Lemon-Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon was wrapped around the top layer and secured with a bow. The Basic Black Solid Bakers Twine was wrapped and secured with a simple knot.
  • The Happy Halloween Sentiment is from the Season to Sparkle Stamp Set.  I cut to size with my Stampin’ Trimmer and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch.  It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Black Rhinestone Jewels were added as a final touch.

Here is a closer look at the Pick A Pumpkin Bundle.  The Quick N’ Easy Card only utilizes the stamp set.  My Stepped-Up A Hoot Card uses both the stamp set and dies included in the bundle.

My Stepped-Up a Hoot Card has lots of depth and dimension, something that I love to add to my creations.  Using the Patterned Pumpkin Thinlits Dies (along with your Big Shot) makes it easy to get the dimension that I crave.

Stepped-Up A Hoot Card Details:

  • Card Base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 8 in x 7 in and scored / folded at 3.5 in to create a long and skinny, portrait style card.
  • 2nd Layer is Crumb Cake Cardstock cut 1/8 inch smaller to 7 5/8 in x 3 3/8 in. Adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • 3rd Layer is Shimmery White Cardstock cut to 7 3/4 in x 3 1/4 in and adhered to the Crumb Cake with Fast Fuse Adhesive. I added my Watercolor Splash Background in Lemon-Lime Twist.  Download the Instructions Now.
  • All Pumpkins from the Pick a Pumpkin Stamp Set were stamped in Tangerine Tango Ink with Basic Black Archival Ink for the faces. They were joined with the matching thinlits and zipped through the Big Shot for quick n easy cropping.
  • I used Lemon-Lime Twist and Basic Black Archival Ink (Ink Pads and Stampin’ Write Markers) on the leaves.  I also cropped a few pieces of additional elements in the same colors cardstock with the additional Thinlits included in the Patterned Pumpkin Thinlits Set.
  • The Happy Halloween Sentiment is from the Season to Sparkle Stamp Set.  I cut to size with my Stampin’ Trimmer and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch.  I added tied a piece of Basic Black Solid Bakers Twine tied in a bow to the other end. It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Black Rhinestone Jewels were added as a final touch.

Welcome to Hoot N’ Easy Friday featuring the Carols of Christmas Bundle from the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  I have to say I didn’t jump on the band wagon and order this one right away…but now I am kicking myself that I never used it before now!  I hadn’t seen it with the Wood Textures DSP and it has definitely changed my mind on this set,  I LOVE IT!

Carols of Christmas Bundle for my Hoot N' Easy Friday Blog Feature See Details at Stampin' Hoot! Stesha Bloodhart #carolsofchristmas #peaceonearth #embossingpaste #christmascard #papercrafts #cardmaking

My Quick N’ Easy Card is created using essential stamping supplies.  The Stampin’ Trimmer and Triple Banner Punch are the only tools needed to create this simple and sweet card. You will have to look past the slight damage to the top pieces of the card…I tripped on the stairs when carrying it up to photograph.  I am fine, the card received minor damage :).

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 4 1/4 in. x 11 in and scored folded at 5 1/2 in creating a stand-up standard A2 card that fits perfectly in our Medium Envelopes.
  • 2nd Layer is a piece of Wood Textures DSP cut 1/8 in. smaller than the card base. (4 1/8 in. x 5 3/8 in.).  It is adhered to the card bas with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock was cut to 3 in. x 4 1/4 in.  I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around it securing it with a bow and adhered it to the card base with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • Tip: Can’t get a tight bow?  Add Snail or Fast Fuse Adhesive to the backside of the card and pull the thread / ribbon tight, securing it in place with the adhesive.  Works like a charm!
  • Early Espresso Cardstock cut to 2 1/4 in. x 2 5/8 in. and adhered with Fast Fuse.
  • The ‘Peace on Earth’ sentiment was first stamped on Crumb Cake Cardstock with Early Espresso Ink, I then trimmed it down with my Stampin’ Trimmer to 2 1/8 in. x 2 1/2 in. I adhered it to the Early Espresso with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I stamped the Deer in Early Espresso onto a 1 in. wide piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock.  The Holly was colored with Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto a 3/4 in. wide piece of Crumb Cake. The Wood Textures DSP was cut to 1/2 in. wide and then I flagged all ends with my Triple Banner Punch.
  • The Poinsettia was stamped in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink on my scrap piece from making the 1 in flag with my Triple Banner Punch.
  • The final touches were added with the Always Artichoke Enamel Shapes (dots).

My ‘Stepped-Up a Hoot!’ card uses a few more products and tools than my ‘Quick N’ Easy’ card. This card uses the Stampin’ Trimmer but also required the use of the Big Shot, Thinlits Dies, Magnetic Platform, and a Paper Snips. These products or tools are a staple in my stamping collection and I use them every day.  If you do not have these and are looking to expand your cardmaking tools collection, I highly recommend adding them!

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 4 1/4 in. x 11 in and scored folded at 5 1/2 in creating a stand-up standard A2 card that fits perfectly in our Medium Envelopes.
  • 2nd Layer is a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock cut 1/8 in. smaller to 4 1/8 in. x 5 3/8 in.  It is adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • 3rd Layer is a piece of Wood Textures DSP and cut to 4 in. x 5 1/4 in.  It was zipped through the Big Shot with the Card Edge Thinlit.  You need to run it through twice; once for the top. another for the bottom.
  • Early Espresso Cardstock was zipped through the Big Shot along with the largest Stitched Shaped Framelit Circle and the Trees from Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies included in the Carols of Christmas Bundle.
  • I stamped the ‘Peace on Earth’ in Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake Cardstock and zipped it through the Big Shot, using the 2nd Largest Layering Circle Framelit Die and assistance from the Magnetic Platform to hold it securely in place.
  • The Poinsettias were stamped in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock.  They were fussy cut with a Paper Snips as there is not a die for them :(.
  • The Holly was colored with Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Markers, stamped onto Crumb Cake Cardstock and quickly cropped out with the Coordinating Framelits, Magnetic Platform and Big Shot. All were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Poinsettia Leaves were stamped in Always Artichoke onto Crumb Cake and cropped with the Big Shot and Coordinating Framelits. All were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The snow was added to the trees by using a Palette Knife, Embossing Paste and setting it with the Heat Tool. Simple and a great effect!
  • The Deer were cropped with the Big Shot and Thinlits Die. I turned one backwards to have them standing different directions. They were adhered with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • Final Touch was a piece of Linen Thread, tied into a bow and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot.

I just LOVE this card.  It reminds me of Christmas in Northern WI with my Mom and Stepdad!  The view of the deer feeding right outside their deck is a site I miss and don’t see often enough!

I am having a hard time believing that it is already time for my Hoot N’ Easy Friday Blog Feature.  This week just flew by and I am trying to keep up!  I decided to grab the Lemon Zest Bundle to create my cards for this Hoot N’ Easy Friday.

Lemon Zest Bundle by Stampin' Up! for Hoot N' Easy Friday at Stampin' Hoot! Stesha Bloodhart #stampinup #lemonzest #papercrafting #cardmaking #stamping #lemons #watercolor

My Quick N’ Easy Card is just that, Quick: I made this card in about 5 Minutes.  Easy: It uses one color cardstock, two colors of classic ink and a punch to quickly crop out the images.

Details:

  • Cardstock: Whisper White Thick Cardstock
    • Card Base Cut to 5 1/2 in x 8 1/2 in.  Scored and folded at 4 1/4 for a standard size card that fits perfectly in our Medium White Envelopes.
    • 2nd Layer Cut to 5 3/8 in x 4 1/8.  Adhered to Card Base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Classic Inks: Daffodil Delight and Old Olive
    • All Lemon Images were stamped with Daffodil Delight onto Whisper White Cardstock.  They were quickly cropped out with the Lemon Builder Punch and the 1 3/8 in Circle Punch.  I also stamped a Lemon Slice onto the Medium White Envelope so that it coordinated with the card.
    • The Leaves and Sentiments were stamped with Old Olive onto Whisper White Cardstock.  They were quickly cropped with the Lemon Builder Punch and the sentiment flag was created with the Triple Banner Punch.
    • Images were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Now for my Stepped Up a Hoot! card.  The layout on this one is exactly the same as my Quick N’ Easy card.  The difference is, I used Shimmery White Cardstock as my 2nd Layer and to stamp my images on.  After stamping the images, I took an Aqua Painter and blended the ink around to give it a different look.  I also used my watercolor background technique with the Daffodil Delight.  You can read and download my tutorial on how to create the background by clicking here: Watercolor Background Tutorial. I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and some Old Olive 1/8 in. Sheer Ribbon to step-up the card.
