Welcome to the Top Ten Winners Blog Hop! You may remember my post from a few weeks ago asking for you to vote? Didn’t see it? You can by clicking here: A Baby Card with A Little Wild Bundle Well, thanks to all you wonderful people that took the time to vote, it did the trick! I landed as #2 in the Top Ten and have the honor of hopping along with Kylie Bertucci, Australia’s #1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, and the other wonderfully talented winners!
The theme is the same as the contest: BABY! This worked out well as we just happened to have friends who had a baby on June 23rd. So I decided to make them a special personalized gift to treasure their new arrival. (Note: the photos of baby Will were not taken by me). I wanted it to share the theme of the card so I kept the colors and images the same and just built my layout from there.
You can see the post on Kylie’s Blog announcing the Top Ten for June by clicking on the button below. I was pretty excited to fall into the number 2 slot, a huge thanks to all that voted for me. I am truly humbled and very grateful for all those that enjoy my creations and share their comments.
I was extremely happy with how well the Letters For You Alphabet Stamps and Coordinating Large Letters Framelits fit onto my page. I didn’t measure, I just grabbed the frame I liked and everything just happened to fall into place. William Keith worked well since they could share the ‘I’ and they couldn’t have fit the space more perfectly.
The Labeler Alphabet did the trick to add the details of Birth Date, Weight and Length. I hand cut each statement after stamping it (Soft Suede Classic Ink), as I didn’t want them to be perfect, I wanted more of a newspaper clipped feel. All Items were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added three rows of Linen Thread to my layout, along with a bow. 1. To Match the Card 2. To Cover My Seam of the Whisper White Thick Cardstock as the background. The frame opening is 10.5 in x 13.5 in and was purchased from Walmart.
The coordinating Number of Years Stamp Set and Large Number Framelits were perfect to use to show off the weight of 9 lbs. The little flag is also from the same set and I stamped the LBS with the Labeler Alphabets. All sentiments, letters and numbers were stamped in Soft Suede Classic Ink.
All the animals and bees were stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink on Shimmery White Cardstock. They were then colored with the following Classic Inks and an Aqua Painter:
- Elephant: Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette
- Bear: Soft Suede
- Hive, Bees and Lion: Crushed Curry and Soft Suede
The animals were cropped out with their coordinating dies and the Big Shot using the Magnetic Platform to hold them in place.
