Rose Wonder Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! for Kylie's International Highlights Top Ten Winners Blog Hop - Sympathy Card #stampinup #rosewonder #bloghop #sympathycard #papercrafts #stamping #cardmaking

I love the Rose Wonder Stamp Set and while looking through the Sympathy Section of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog, I noticed their tip at the bottom of the page suggesting to stamp and emboss the image onto Vellum and then color the backside for a softer feel!  (The Tip is shown below).

Rose Wonder Stamp Set Tip of Coloring on Vellum

Images © Stampin’ Up!

I started with soft colors.  I used Lemon-Lime Twist for the Leaves and Sweet Sugarplum for the Rose…I was craving more dimension so I grabbed my Old Olive and Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Markers and added shades of darker color.  When I set it on top of my Wood Textures DSP, I wasn’t getting the depth of dimension that I wanted so I glued a piece of Whisper White Cardstock behind it and snipped it with my paper snips to match the image and hide the mat. I adhered it to the Card Base the Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Rose Wonder Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! for Kylie's International Highlights Top Ten Winners Blog Hop - Sympathy Card #stampinup #rosewonder #bloghop #sympathycard #papercrafts #stamping #cardmaking

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 5 1/2 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5 1/2 in to create a Square Card.
  • 2nd Layer is Whisper White Cardstock cut to a 5 1/4 in Square and adhered with Fast Fuse.
  • 3rd Layer is Wood Textures Designer Series Paper cut to 5 1/8 in Square, also adhered with Fast Fuse.
  • The Rose and With Sympathy Sentiment + Frame are from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set.  They were stamped with Versamark onto Vellum and then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool.
  • I colored the back sides with Stampin’ Write Markers:  Lemon-Lime Twist, Old Olive, Sweet Sugarplum and Berry Burst.
  • I snipped out the images with my trusty Paper Snips.
  • I added Whisper White Cardstock behind the images to bring out the dimensions in the color and snipped it close with my Paper Snips.  It was adhere to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the card for a final touch.

Here is a close-up of the detail of color achieved by using two shades of Stampin’ Write Markers and coloring the back side of the vellum.  It was so nice to be able to color and not worry about staying inside the lines!  Tip:  Color the entire image at once with the lighter shades. Then after allowing it to dry, add the shading or depth with the darker colors.

Hoot-A-Riffic Color Combination Night of Navy, Lemon-Lime Twist and Flirty Flamingo by Stampin' Up! #colorcombination #stampinup #stampinhoot

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Whisper White 12 x 12 Cardstock cut to 6 in x 12 in and scored / folded at 6 in to make a square card.
  • Take Flirty Flamingo 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and cut it into two-8 inch strips. Adhere to the inside of the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • Using the other half of your Whisper White 12 x 12 Cardstock , cut it down to two pieces of 5 5/8 x 5 5/8 in.  Adhere one to the inside of the card to cover the Ribbon Ends.  Adhere the other to the top of the Card Base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Cut a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock to 5.5 in x 5.5 in.  Create the watercolor background by tapping the edge of the Night of Navy Ink Pad to a piece of acetate.  Spray it with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer until the ink starts to pool a little. (About 5 sprays). Carefully flip it over and touch it to the Shimmery White Cardstock lifting and re-touching until you get the coverage you are looking for.  You may need to repeat this entire step if more coverage is needed. Tip: If water drips from the acetate as you are turning it over to apply it, you have added too much water.
  • Stamp all images (Umbrellas, Umbrella Handles, Clouds and Sentiments) onto Shimmery White Cardstock with Basic Black Archival Ink. Color the images with an Aqua Painter and the following Classic Inks: Night of Navy, Lemon-Lime Twist,  Flirty Flamingo and Smoky Slate. Quickly crop each image with the coordinating framelits dies and the Big Shot (be sure to use the Magnetic Platform to ensure the die is held firmly in place).
  • Strategically adhered images to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Cut 8 inches of Night Of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and bunch it up.  Adhere it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Tip: I put the dimensionals on the card first and then added the ribbon, bunching it as I adhered it.
  • Wrap a bunch of Silver Metallic Thread around three fingers, then pull it off and twist it a bit. Adhere it to the back of the flagged sentiment and then adhere that to the bunched ribbon.
  • Trim the “I’m Here For You” sentiment closely and adhere with snipped Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This afternoon I am participating in the wonderful Kylie Bertucci’s, Austrailia’s Number One Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlights!  Every month, Kylie pulls together a group of Stampin’ Up! Enthusiasts, picks a theme and highlights their creations on her blog! She enables viewers to cast their vote (up to 5 different) on their favorite creation in the line-up! The top 10 picks get to take part in a blog hop with Kylie!  What an honor, huh?

This month’s theme is: A Teacher’s Gift. Since my baby goes to Kindergarten this year, I thought it would be fun to make a piece of canvas wall art his teacher could hang in her classroom. I used a couple of my FAVORITE items from Stampin’ Up!: Letters for You Photopolymer Stamp Set, Coordinating Large Letters Framelits Dies, Number of Years Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Coordinating Large Numbers Framelits Dies. I use them all the time!  They are well worth the investment!  Cards, Scrapbook Pages, 3-D Items, Wall Art!  So versatile! The Birthday Memories Suite was the perfect color and theme that I needed to create my Teacher’s Gift!

What do you think?  I LOVE the bright colors and the fun nostalgic animals.  Since the animals were already printed on the DSP, all I needed to do was crop them out with coordinating dies or fussy cut them with paper snips. It helped to cut my time down in creating this piece!  I started with a white piece of canvas that I colored with Basic Black Archival Ink and the Sponge Brayer.  All letters were stamped first in Classic Ink, then stamped again with Versamark and Heat Embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

So that being said:

I would be ever so humbled if you were to Vote for Me! #25

The photo above is a view of the piece hanging on a wall in our house!  You can put the flagged banner on top or bottom, both work well!  I created the flagged pieces by cutting 1 in x 4 in strips of the DSP, flagging the ends with the Banner Triple Punch and then gluing the pieces together over the top of the Basic Black Solid Bakers Twine. The small pieces were the leftover pieces from flagging the ends.

I hope you enjoy what you see!  I sure enjoy making and sharing them with everyone. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or leave a comment on this post.

Picture from Thailand

Prior to participating in Kylie’s International Highlights with the Gratitude Inspired by Thailand Theme, I never really paid attention to Thailand’s beauty.  After seeing several posts and pictures from the Top Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators that attended the Incentive Trip to Thailand, I had no idea what I was missing.  The scenery is stunning! I wanted to create something that mimicked what you might see when visiting this beautiful land! Since I am a sucker for sunsets, I wanted to incorporate one into my card.  While I created my card from memory of what I viewed previously, I grabbed a photo that I found while writing this post so that you can see what I mean! BEAUTIFUL!

I have to admit, since I have lived my entire life in Four Season Wisconsin, I never paid much attention to Palm Trees and I did not know that the Palm Leaves were called Fronds!  Thanks to Kylie’s International Highlights, I now know and will use the proper verbiage in this post :).

Card Details:

  • Card Base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4.25 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in.
  • Shimmery White Cardstock was cut to 4.125 in x 5.375 in.
  • I applied color to the Shimmery White Cardstock with an Aqua Painter and these Classic Ink Colors:
    • Sky and Water: Island Indigo
    • Sunset: Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry
    • Sand: Sahara Sand
  • I stamped the Palm Fronds (Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set) in Lemon-Lime Twist onto Shimmery White Cardstock.  I then added some Old Olive with an Aqua Painter for depth. The Palm Fronds were snipped out with a Paper Snips and adhered with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The touch of grass was stamped in Old Olive.  I only inked up part of the stamp before applying to the cardstock.
  • The sentiments (also from Fabulous Flamingo) were stamped in Island Indigo and Soft Suede.
  • The adirondack chair is from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and was quickly cropped out by zipping it through the BigShot with Whisper White Cardstock.

Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! Makes a great Thank You Card Thailand Style at Stampin' Hoot! Stesha Bloodhart for Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights #stampinup #flamingo #fabulousflamingo #handmade #cards #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

So it’s that time of month again where Kylie Bertucci gathers Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the globe to highlight their work and blog! I gotta admit, when I saw this month’s theme, I was a little worried:  THEME: Gratitude inspired by Thailand.  The Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators that qualified for the 2017 Incentive Trip are currently celebrating and relaxing in beautiful Thailand!  I have seen so many pictures of the beautiful views and scenery, I can’t wait to join them on the next adventure…here is to hard work that I will pay off for me!

Flamingos from Thailand PhotoFirst, I needed to figure out what stamp set I had that had anything to do with representing Thailand. Next, what was I going to do to make a card that put all the pieces together.  As I was at swimming lessons with my boys this morning (nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?), I had an idea.  I decided to search “Flamingos in Thailand” cause lets face it, I don’t know a lot about Thailand. I was so happy to see that they do exist and they had pictures showing what they look like! So I saved the picture to my computer, dug around in my scraps until I found a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock I could fit the Flamingo on, and I went to work.

I saw the Stampin’ Up! Classic Ink Colors of Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo within the feathers of the Flamingo so I based my design off of that.  The stamp set has palm leaves (which I am not sure if they have in Thailand) but I decided that Lemon-Lime Twist coordinated really well with the bright pink of Melon Mambo…so I had my color combination and was ready to design the layout.

I would be so extremely grateful if you would take the time to hop on over to Kylie’s Blog (by clicking the picture below) and cast your vote for your TOP 5 Favorite creations.  The top ten winners will partake in an international blog hop with Kylie in the near future. To cast your vote, please click on the heart located in the upper top right hand side of the photo.  My submission happens to be #31!

  • Card base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut to 4.25 in x 11 in and scored / folded at 5.5 in to made a standard size card that fits perfectly in our Medium Size Envelopes.
  • A piece of Melon Mambo Cardstock was cut to 4 in x 5.25 in.  A piece of Whisper White Cardstock was cut to 3.875 in x 5.125 in and adhered to the Melon Mambo with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • I wrapped a piece of the Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon around the Melon Mambo and White and securing it with a bow, prior to adhering it to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I stamped the “Thanks” sentiment (also from the Fabulous Flamingo set) directly on the Whisper White Cardstock below the bow with Basic Black Archival Ink.
  • I stamped the Palm Leaves on Shimmery White Cardstock with Lemon-Lime Twist Classic In-Color Ink and then cut them out with the Paper Snips. I adhered them with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Flamingo was stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink and then colored with an Aqua Painter.  I alternated the following pinks:  Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo.  The Flamingo was also fussy cut with Paper Snips and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The final touch (as most always) was added with Enamel Shaped Hearts in Melon Mambo and stamping some coordinating palm leaves to the envelope.
