Follow Your Dreams Bundle Parade of Cards

Today I decided to take a break away from the 2018 Holiday Catalog and take a stroll back to the Annual Catalog, showcasing one of my favorites:  Follow Your Dreams Bundle.  These are the creations I made for the InkBig Academy Design Team.  So, let us take a stroll and gain some inspiration for a set that is at the top of my list!

Follow Your Dreams Bundle by Stampin' Up! Cards created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

The Follow Your Dreams Bundle pairs well with the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper, as well as Vellum Cardstock.  Add a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and you have a stellar card to give a friend that is following their dreams.

Use the dream catcher stamp to create your own personalized background! Stamp directly on Designer Series Paper for a subtle addition to your sentiment.

Stamp on Vellum and then adhere over the top of the Designer Series Paper for a soft look.  Vellum does so much to soften a card…I should really use it more often.

The Follow Your Dreams Bundle has some fabulous dies to step-up any creation.  The feather is one of my favorites.

I paired the Follow Your Dreams Bundle with the Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I then colored the dots with Stampin’ Blends to match the card. Tuck a bit of ribbon behind the top layer for an added touch.

Use the dies to create a peekaboo background.  I love the way Lemon Lime Twist pairs so well with so many neutral colors.  Be sure to pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What Will You Stamp!

I was so excited to find out that my card was picked as a winner for the Blended Seasons What Will You Stamp Challenge.  By being chosen as a winner, I was asked to be a guest designer for this week’s challenge of Waterfront!

So, what do you think?  Do you like the background I created?  It was inspired by the Northern Lights :).

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. With a Stampin’ Trimmer, cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock to 6 1/4″ x 8″.  Score and fold at 4″.
  2. Cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 3 1/2″.  Wet the entire piece with water from an Aqua Painter.  Add the following colors with a slanted stroke:  Lemon Lime Twist, Night of Navy, Lovely Lipstick, Blackberry Bliss.
  3. Fill a Stampin’ Spritzer with several drops of Whisper White Ink Refill and Water.  Spray onto the Northern Lights Background to make it look like snow.
  4. Stamp the mountains and trees multiple times in Jet Black Stazon onto Shimmery White Cardstock.  Snip out with Paper Snips.  Arrange as shown and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp the sentiments in Versamark onto Basic Black Cardstock. Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, remove excess and set with a Heat Tool.  Snip with a Paper Snips and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The trees and mountains from the Waterfront Stamp Set were stamped in Jet Black Stazon Ink onto Shimmery White Cardstock, then snipped out with a Paper Snips.  I added dimension by offsetting the mountains and trees, then adhering them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love that layered look!

Pals Blog Hop August 2018 – Cut It Out

Welcome to the Pals August 2018 Blog Hop. We love to cut it out so this month our creations feature our favorite “cuts” using punches, Framelits, and Thinlits from the current Stampin’ Up! catalog.

You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Cut it Out! Lilypad Lake Birthday Card

Since the Lilypad Lake Bundle has die cuts that coordinate with all the stamped images, I decided to use that set to create a birthday card for the Pals Blog Hop: Cut it Out!  The largest die cut from the Limited Release Stitched Season Framelits creates a framed card scene that makes the card stand out.

Lilypad Lake Bundle by Stampin' Up! Handmade Birthday Card created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! for Pals Blog Hop August 2018 #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. With a Stampin’ Trimmer, cut a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 11″.  Score and fold at 5 1/2″.
  2. Using an Aqua Painter, create a watercolor wash background on a piece of Watercolor Paper.  I used Classic Inks:  Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, & Crushed Curry. After the ink dries, crop out the background using a Big Shot and the largest label die from the Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies.  Adhere to the center of the card base with Snail Adhesive.
  3. Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x  5 1/2″.  Crop the frame using the same Stitched Seasons Framelit Die.  Adhere to the card base with Foam Adhesive Strips.
  4. Stamp the following images onto Shimmery White Cardstock using Stazon Ink:  Sun, Sail Boats, Lilypads, Crane. Crop with a Big Shot and the coordinating dies from the Lakeside Framelits Dies. Also, crop two grass die cuts of Shimmery White Cardstock.
  5. Color the images with an Aqua Painter.  Crane: Smoky Slate, Grass: Old Olive & Pear Pizzazz, Lilypad: Petal Pink, Old Olive, & Pear Pizzazz, Sail Boats:  Smoky Slate & Coastal Cabana, Sun: Crushed Curry & Mango Melody
  6. Adhere all images with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The card is fairly simple to create, I recommend using a fair amount of water when creating the watercolor wash background.  I applied the ink at an angle, adding a bit more ink to spots that I wanted a little deeper tone.

Lilypad Lake Bundle by Stampin' Up! Handmade Birthday Card created by Stesha Bloodhart, Stampin' Hoot! for Pals Blog Hop August 2018 #steshabloodhart #stampinhoot

When coloring the images with an Aqua Painter, you want to use very little ink and water, adding ink to areas to create a shading effect, little by little. I like to cover the image very lightly with the base color, then slowly add more ink to spots that I think might have a shadow cast.

You can also use Shimmery White Cardstock as the base for your watercolor wash background.  I tend to gravitate towards Watercolor Paper as it absorbs more water and I can get a bit more of a washed look.

Happy Monday Everyone!

I needed quick and easy as I didn’t have a lot of time for this creation!  I love that the images are colored and ready for you!

  • With a Stampin’ Trimmer, cut a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  Score and fold at 4 1/4″.
  • Cut at a slight angle, 2 1/2″ from the fold down to approx. 1 1/4″ on the other side.
  • Cut a piece of Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (Giraffe Spots) to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  Adhere to the backside of the angled card front with Snail Adhesive.

  • Using a Big Shot and Stitched Circle Framelit Die, crop a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock.  Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Flip the Designer Series Paper around and snip out the sloth, giraffe, and chameleon with a Paper Snips.  Adhere as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Using Washi Tape, mask the Big Time of the “thank you BIG TIME” sentiment stamp. Ink it up in Soft Suede ink, remove the Washi Tape mask and stamp onto Whisper White Cardstock.  Repeat these steps, only this time use the Washi Tape to mask the thank you portion.  Use a Paper Snips to snip apart the sentiment and adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
